10 Tips to Make Your Computer More Secure

Over the past decade, computers and smartphones have become an integral part of our lives. However, while you might love to spend more time on them, have you thought about how secure it is for you?  Computer security is important, and while you may play games with a resorts casino bonus code safely, many online sites aren’t as safe as you would think. Malware and ransomware are just two added threats, apart from computer viruses.

So, how do you ensure your PC is safe? Here are a few tips.

#1. Limit your internet time.

Do you need to be online all the time? When your computer is not connected to the internet, then you should switch off your internet router. Cybercrime predators tend to hack a computer which is always online. However, if your connection is sporadic, then you are more secure.

#2. Have a reliable computer firewall

Modern computers have an integrated firewall. For instance, Windows has the Windows Firewall. On the other, you can use Linux, depending on your needs.

#3. Ensure that your router has a secure firewall.

When you sign up to an internet provider, they are likely to offer you a free firewall. If you feel that it is not decent, then you can upgrade to a more secure one.

#4. Use antivirus

You must have an antivirus program on your computer. Your device can get damaged or infected by just visiting a webpage. An antivirus program will keep your computer secure from any viruses.

#5. Don't disable User Account Control(UAC)

UAC is an essential feature on your computer because it acts as a firewall and an antivirus program. It prevents harmful external programs from changing the system without your authorization.

#6. Check untrusted applications.

You can be installing untrusted programs on your device knowingly or unknowingly. There are some free programs which can carry viruses. Therefore always download applications from trusted sources.

#7. Use strong passwords.

You can only keep your data safe by using a strong password. For instance, if you use 123 as password hackers can access your account quickly. Also, do not use the same password on all your accounts. It makes your data more vulnerable.

#8. Update your computer.

Always update your device to roll out new security features.

#9. Check your web browser.

Use a reliable web browser. For example, Google Chrome has been dubbed as more secure than other browsers.

#10. Avoid public WiFi

Hackers can steal your information when you are using public WiFi. The internet connection of a public WiFi is uncrypted, which makes you vulnerable.
